Description Dark although bright natural wood replacement boulder opal from our mine in western Queensland showing multicolours. This opal is quality cut and highly polished with a slight undulating surface where we have followed the opal vein using fine tools. Wood replacement occurs in our mines where wood and plant material were deposited amongst the heavier sediments. When the ground became silicified some of this material was replaced with precious opal. Stone size: 16.8mm long x 5.9mm wide x 2.8mm thick and weighs 2.25cts Photos are taken in different lighting from sunlight to artificial light.
